Warder devils are the bodyguards of the Nine Hells. They are charged with protecting a particular devil and do so by carving a bloody line of defense.[1]
Description[]
Warder devils are graced with beautiful forms that are not truly theirs, stolen as they are from warrior princes and battle maidens.[1]
Personality[]
Warder devils are greatly intimidating creatures known for cruelty and bloodlust, but enjoy taking orders as much as inflicting pain and suffering, and will gladly sacrifice themselves for their infernal masters.[1]
Abilities[]
Warder devils fight with greatswords that burn in their clutches. Those struck with the weapons can be specially marked such that its flames burn even hotter for them specifically, and the warder devil can teleport to the marked should they attack one of their allies.[1]
Combat[]
Warder devils keep their charges from harm as much as possible, keeping enemies at bay with use of their mark and unleashing a whirlwind of slashes at any who try to harm them.[1] Though they may guard other beings by extension, they are known to abandon lesser wards if their primary charge lacks protection.[2] Their personal preference is towards already bloodied opponents, such is their lust to kill.[1]
Society[]
Warder devils are usually escorts for greater devils, both in acting as bodyguards and/or concubines, but may guard anything from official ambassadors to petty tyrants. Many can be found in the service of Dispater.[1] Warder devils can also be found acting as security in the Soul Market of the Outer Torments.[3]
History[]
The first warder devils were once angels of protection, but were led to join Asmodeus's rebellion by their sadistic thirst for destruction. Originally Asmodeus employed them as escorts for his fiendish emissaries, but they have since been retasked as bodyguards for various powerful devils.[1]
Notable Warder Devils[]
- Assailra, a warder devil who rose to the rank of archdevil through her service to Asmodeus. A falling out with his daughter Glasya over a shared lover saw her exiled from the Hells and quickly led her to become the ruler of Hell's Bastion on the Outer Torments. She quietly hopes to impress her beloved master with her skill and brutality, but retains a burning hatred of his daughter.[4]
