Wall of Thorns[]
Debuted in the Player's Handbook as a druid spell.
Level: 6 | School: Conjuration/Summoning |
Components: V, S, M (mistletoe) | |
Range: 8" | Casting Time: 8 segments |
Duration: 1 turn/level | Saving Throw: None |
Area: 10" cube/level |
A barrier of tough, pliable, tangled brush with thorns as long as a person's finger, springs into existence where the caster designates. The wall covers an area of 10 cubic inches per caster level, shaped in whatever form the caster desires, as long as it is at least 1" thick. Any creature passing through the wall, or in the area of the wall when it is created, takes 8 points of damage, plus a number of points of damage equal to their AC.
The wall can be chopped through by taking at least 4 turns to hack through 1". Normal fire will not affect the barrier, but magical fire will light the barrier on fire for 2 turns. The fire influcts 4d4 points of damage, +1 point of damage/level, upon any creature that touches it. Creatures within 1" of the wall take 2d4 points of damage, and those within 2" take 1d4 points of damage. Undead always take double damage, and creatures vulnerable to fire may take extra damage as well. After 2 turns, the wall is reduced to ash.
DM's Advice: Do not consider the Dexterity bonus to the AC when calculating damage for this spell. If the thorns are burned, the non-damaging side of the wall is the side the caster is on.
