Vidi is the realm of Vidar, a god of strength in the Norse pantheon. It is located within the walls of Asgard.[1]
Vidi is a land of tall grass full of huge legendary animals, where deities go to hunt. Vidar also keeps his hall and stables here.[2]
The name Vidi is also applied to Vidar's hall.[3]
Creative origins[edit | edit source]
Vidar's land is described in stanza 17 of Grimnismal, a poem in Old Norse narrated by Odin:[4]
- "With brush is grown
- and with high grasses
- Víðar's land, Viði;
- and there the son shows himself
- on horseback
- bold to avenge his father."
