The module was originally designed by Gary Gygax as a tournament module for the Metro Detroit Gamers WinterCon V Gamefest, 1976. It was produced under the title The Lost Caverns of Tsojconth{{UnknownBook}}. It was playtested by TSR staff. Metro Detroit Gamers printed the module with TSR's permission. It is the second ever D&D adventure module published, pre-dating TSR's own G1 Steading of the Hill Giant Chief (1978).[1]

Development[]

S4 The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth was written by Gary Gygax, with art by Jeff Easley, James Holloway, Erol Otus, and Stephen Sullivan.

The module was at one point given the code WG3, following WG1 The Village of Hommlet (which was originally released as T1) and WG2 Temple of Elemental Evil (delayed until 1985, when it was released as T1-4). The code S4 was originally intended to be given to I1 Dwellers of the Forbidden City (1981).[1]
