Sword and Fist was the first book in 3rd edition that focused on combat. It included new feats, prestige classes, weapons and other equipment, primarily for fighters and monks. The book also has some descriptions of the places where combat-oriented classes' representatives dwell (monasteries, watch towers, arenas, etc.), as well as descriptions of their organizations (Red Avengers and Knight Protectors).

The book was written by Jason Carl, Andy Collins, Monte Cook, Bruce R. Cordell, Dale A. Donovan, David Eckelberry, David Noonan, Jonathan Tweet and James Wyatt. Art was provided by Dennis Cramer, Jeff Easley and Dennis Kauth.

Sword and Fist was released by in for $19.95 US.[1]

On January 27, 2015, it was re-released in digital format. It is currently available on DriveThruRPG and Dungeon Masters Guild for $7.99.

As of 2023, Sword and Fist reached the rank of Silver seller on DriveThruRPG.

Influence on other works[]

Some of this book's contents were updated for Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 in Complete Warrior (2003).
