Storm devils are living artillery of the Nine Hells who rain down destruction on its enemies from above.[1]
Personality[]
Storm devils can be unruly and have little patience for the regimentation of Hell's ranks, being known to disobey orders or abandon their posts to torment weaker devils or get in a quick kill.[1]
Abilities[]
Storm devils wield tridents with which they can electrocute their enemies from afar or directly taze them, leaving them dazed and struggling to overcome the shock. They could also let loose a thunderclap that sent those nearby flying away and similarly dazed, or once injured, move like a cyclone knocking similarly sized foes to the ground. They resist lightning and thunder, although ironically are clumsy fliers.[1]
Combat[]
Storm devils begin battle by flying to a perch from which they can survey the battlefield and blast enemies with their thunderclap (oftentimes off of ledges) and their lightning bolts in-between.[1][2] Due to their poor flight abilities they avoided fighting in the air, flying only to land somewhere new to attack from.[1][2] They had little reason to engage in melee given their ranged capabilities and avoided it whenever possible in favor of striking from a safe distance.[2][3] They were also adept at stealth.[1]
Society[]
Storm devils patrolled the lower Hells serving as their artillery, particularly in Maladomini and Nessus.[1] They can also be found in Cania[4] and are common in Stygia, where they serve in the armies under the command of Levistus’s pit fiend seneschal Amon.[5] They are known to harass vehicles passing through the Astral Sea, and in addition to devil hosts bring artillery support to mortals who summon and bind them into service.[1]
Storm devils serve as bodyguards to pit fiends, and are feared by weaker devils since few of them are resist to the powers of lightning and thunder.[1]
Storm devils speak Supernal.[1]
