Spiked devils are hellforged devils made up of iron spikes which act as sentinels in the Nine Hells.[1]

Description[]

Spiked devils are humanoid in only the most basic sense, as their body parts are almost spherical in shape, giving them a lumbering appearance and graceless stride. Their chest, arms and legs are dotted in hundreds of sharp, iron spikes.[1]

Personality[]

Spiked devils are not particularly intelligent.[1]

Abilities[]

Spiked devils can regularly, directionally project the sharp spikes of their bodies at the enemy. The spikes are living parts of their bodies and continue to dig into their targets after striking, stopping after several seconds of tunnelling or with adequate mundane or magical medical attention. They are also fire resistant and able to slowly burrow.[1]

Combat[]

Spiked devils typically begin fighting by spraying the area with spikes before closing in and attempting to grapple and rend the foe against their bodies. They tend to catch allies in their attacks and so are poorly suited to fighting alongside other devils.[1]

Society[]

Spiked devils are forged from iron mined with Dis. They typically act as guardians and lookouts since their abilities are poorly suited to teamwork, but they can be found in bands of up to eight individuals. Some necromancers and diabolists who have especially pleased an archdevil are granted spiked devils as servitors, and usually employ them as protectors for their lairs or sentries over their treasures.
