The Spear of Sorrow is an artifact polearm dedicated the to the dark god Tharizdun.[1]

Appearance[]

The Spear of Sorrow is a a barbed, bladed polearm. It is seven feet long and made entirely of black stone.

Properties[]

Powers[]

The spear's wielder is protected in combat, and almost impossible for untrained men to strike. They are invulnerable to cold, including the freezing temperatures of temples of the Dark One, Tharizdun. They cannot be deceived by any but the most powerful of magical illusions.

The wielder can also conjure storms of ice and cold, and regenerate from injury as long as the weapon remains in their possession.

Drawbacks[]

Anyone who carries the spear is tormented by nightmares and visions of a future. It corrupts and controls all who carry it, and only the strongest minds can resist it. The spear will attempt three times to dominate its wielder before surrendering, sleeping until a new owner.[1]

The spear's goal is to locate and restore the forgotten temples of the Dark God, Tharizdun, and revive his sleeping guardians.[1]

Destruction[]

The Spear of Sorrow is an artifact, and cannot be destroyed by normal means.

Destroying the spear is extremely difficult, and the method unknown.[1]

History[]

Creation[]

The Spear of Sorrow was crafted from black stone mined at the Cauldron of Night, the same dark source as the cursed Malachite Throne.

Recent history[]
