S. Wakeman is a sage and legendary adventurer best known for his research into the deadly mind flayers. He is the original proprietor of Wakeman's Subterranean Exotics, which sells items procured from the Underdark.
Wakeman's copious notes included not just written research, but details of personal excursions and direct contact with mind flayers.
Wakeman was last seen over ten years ago, when he left to investigate a rumor of mind flayer ruins. Presumed dead, the executor of his will accumulated his knowledge into a book titled The Illithiad and made it available to the Arcane Order.[1] A copy of this book appeared in the private library of the archmage Kerleth.[2]
