Player's Handbook is a 320-page sourcebook for Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition released in June 2008. It is one of the three core rulebooks for Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition, and provides the main rules required to play that edition of the game.

The Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game has defined the medieval fantasy genre and the tabletop RPG industry for more than 30 years. In the D&D game, players create characters that band together to explore dungeons, slay monsters, and find treasure. The 4th Edition D&D rules offer the best possible play experience by presenting exciting character options, an elegant and robust rules system, and handy storytelling tools for the Dungeon Master.
The Player's Handbook presents the official Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game rules as well as everything a player needs to create D&D characters worthy of song and legend: new character races, base classes, paragon paths, epic destinies, powers, more magic items, weapons, armor, and much more.

The book was written by Richard Baker, Greg Bilsland, Logan Bonner, Bart Carroll, Michele Carter, Jennifer Clarke-Wilkes, Andy Collins and Bruce R. Cordell. Art was provided by Rob Alexander, Dave Allsop, Zoltan Boros, Christopher Burdett, Matt Cavotta, Leon Cortez, Eric Deschamps and Wayne England.

Release[]

Player's Handbook was released by Wizards of the Coast in June 2008 for $34.95 US, or $39.95 Canadian.

On October 20, 2015, it was re-released in digital format. It is currently available on DriveThruRPG and Dungeon Masters Guild for $9.99.
