Passion devils are fervent, exploitative devils of the Nine Hells. Created in the image of the archdevil Fierna of Phlegethos, passion devils are burning reflections of her vanity. While seduction is the domain of the succubi, passion devils weaponize their namesake, amplifying the passions of others into tidal waves of raging desire.[1]

Description[]

Though made in their mistress's image, each passion devil manifests a physical flaw absent from the original, whether it be as minor as a mole or horrid as a hunchback. In any case, passion devils can disguise themselves as all manner of humanoids, but raw, hellfire-charged passion burns in their eyes.[1]

Personality[]

Passion devils are socially-skilled and manipulative creatures, but not in the patient, subtle way that succubi are. Rather, they have manipulative desires, which often take control of their actions. They are impulsive devils who will regularly, eventually, succumb to their base craving for violence, domination, and the sight of others similarly raging out of control.[1]

Abilities[]

Passion devils can fly and hover, are resistant to fire, and fight with flaming claws. The true danger of these flames however comes from how they interact with a passion devil's enchanting abilities. With seductive words infused with eldritch power, passion devils beckon force their victims, leading them into a fiery caress that burns even as it further enthralls their victims. Even as passion devils bathe an area in flames of passion and scorch those around them, their dominated victims act out against any the fiend wishes. The very presence of a passion devil clouds the minds of its enemies. [1]

A passion devil's polymorphing was imperfect in several ways. While it took extreme insight to recognize it as a disguise,[1] certain alchemical reagents might allow the true form to be revealed.[2] The transformation does not affect clothing or possessions, they cannot adopt the form of a specific individual without seeing them first, and it ends if they attack or fall unconscious.[1]

Combat[]

Passion devils draw their victims forth before incinerating the smitten foe, and will drive them to impassioned frenzies even if not necessarily the smartest approach. Sometimes they are merely sent as a diversion while their master launches a more tactically precise strike.[1]

Society[]

Passion devils are found wherever Fierna sends them. She uses them to infiltrate the ranks of her enemies (although this regularly ends when they surrender to passion and reveal their true form), to keep an eye on her own cults (and even supplant their pre-existing leadership) and as ambassadors to the courts of other powerful devils.[1]

Passion devils themselves are willing to work with any ally they can manipulate, and are often protected by bearded devil bodyguards during their work as emissaries.[1]

Notable Passion Devils[]

  • Karik, a passion devil sent to infiltrate and learn about the capabilities and inhabitants of Baba Yaga's hut by Fierna. They adopted the persona of Jayden Thull, young, handsome and charming human adventurer, to seduce and manipulate the mentally unstable Elena, one of Baba Yaga's adopted daughters.[3]
