Nystul's Magic Aura[]
Debuted in the Player's Handbook as a magic-user spell.
| Level: 1 | School: Illusion/Phantasm |
| Components: V, S, M (a square of silk passed over the object) | |
| Range: Touch | Casting Time: 1 round |
| Duration: 1 day/level | Saving Throw: Special |
| Target: One item of up to 50 gp/level weight | |
The target item is given a magical aura, detectable with magic. The aura detects ambiguously, unable to be read as anything more than the presence of a magical aura. Actually holding the item and using magic to percieve the aura allows the detective to make a saving throw, with success noting that that the aura is false.
