Mummy rot is a magical wasting disease which is inflicted by the touch of an undead mummy.[1]
Pathology[]
Mummy rot is technically a form of curse, which cannot be cured or prevented by typical magical means. It cannot be cured naturally. Creatures invulnerable to disease, such as a monk who has perfected may still be susceptible to mummy rot.
The curse must first be removed by spells such as remove curse or break enchantment before its effects can be healed effectively.
The effects of mummy rot take place within a minute of infection. The disease causes the victim's body to waste away gradually until it eventually shrivels away into sand and dust.[1]
History[]
A highly dangerous form of this disease afflicts visitors to Wormblood, the fifth layer of the Abyss. This illness killed an entire band of the the Company of the Gyrfalcon within a year of their return from the plane. No cure to the disease could be found.[2]
