This article is about the bludgeoning weapon. For the bandit king Mace, see Vecna II.

A mace is a bludgeoning melee weapon wielded in one hand.

A mace has a wooden or metal shaft and a heavy metal head. When viewed end-on, the head usually possesses two-dimensional radial symmetry. This is distinguished from the morningstar, which has a spherical head of three-dimensional symmetry.

Maces are further divided into the light mace and heavy mace. Maces are traditionally wielded by clerics of some churches, who are forbidden from using weapons which draw blood, or whose deities favor the mace as their weapon.
