Plot[]
Background[]
Just over two years ago, Auril the Frostmaiden cast her Everlasting Rime over Icewind Dale. She was unhappy and craved isolation so she cut off her realm from the rest of the world, encapsulating it in darkness.
In addition, the archdevil Asmodeus, in the guise of Deep Duerra, seeks to control Xardorok Sunblight, a duergar warlord who is trying to build a kingdom on the surface. To do this, he is building a dragon made of chardalyn to destroy Ten-Towns, with the help of his son's Durth and Nildar.
Finally, four members of the Arcane Brotherhood have come to Icewind Dale seeking the ruins of Ythryn, a lost Netherese city that crashed into the Reghed glacier long ago.
