D&D 3rd edition[]
The hexblade was introduced as a character class in Complete Warrior (2003).
D&D 4th edition[]
The hexblade returned in Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition as a warlock subclass in Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms (2010).
D&D 5th edition[]
The hexblade returned in Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition in the Unearthed Arcana playtest article Unearthed Arcana: Warlock & Wizard (2017), before being officially released for the edition in Xanathar's Guide to Everything (2017). In 5th edition, "The Hexblade" is a warlock otherworldly patron (subclass).
