Publication history[]

AD&D 2nd edition[]

The grippli first appeared in Monster Cards Set 1 (1982), followed by Monster Manual II (1e) (1983).

AD&D 2nd edition[]

The grippli returned in MC5 Monstrous Compendium: Greyhawk Adventures Appendix (1990) and were reprinted in the Monstrous Manual (1993).

The grippli were presented as a character race in Half-Pint Heroes, Dragon #262 (Aug 1999).

D&D 3rd edition[]

The grippli returned as a character race in Winning Races: Grippli, Dragon #324 (Oct 2004).

Creative origins[]

Reception and influence[]

The grippli were included in the d20 System sourcebook Tome of Horrors (2002), from Necromancer Games. They later became part of Paizo's Pathfinder role-playing game, featuring as monsters in Pathfinder Bestiary 2 (2010) and as a character race in Advanced Race Guide (2012).
