Grafvollud the Field Gnawer is a linnorm who helps Nidhoggr bite at the roots of the great world tree Yggdrasil.[1]

Creative origins[]

The serpent Grafvollud, or Grafvölluðr, originates in Norse mythlogy. It is described in stanza 43 of Grímnismál as an ormr or wyrm. The meaning of its name is "the field gnawer". It is not referenced in any other known works, and stanza 43 is thought by some scholars to be a later addition to the original text.[2]
