Creates an intense fire in the area.
Original D&D[]
Debuted in Supplement 3: Eldritch Wizardry, for the druid.
- Spell Level: 7
- Duration 1 turn
Creates a fiery area no less than 3 square inches (maximum of 3 square inches per caster level) that deals 1d6 damage to all creatures within it (2d6 to undead). It ignites combustible material in the area, which continues to burn after the spell ends. The spell can be reversed by the caster to extinguish normal fire in an area up to 6 square inches per caster level, and in an area equal to the spell's normal area, it has a 5% chance per caster level of extinguishing magical fires.
AD&D[]
Fire Storm[]
Debuted in the Player's Handbook as a druid spell.
Level: 7 | School: Evocation |
Components: V, S, M (mistletoe) | |
Range: 16" | Casting Time: 9 segments |
Duration: 1 round | Saving Throw: Halves |
Area: 2" cube/level (minimum 16" cube) |
Sheets of roaring flame shoot through the area. The fire influcts 2d8 points of damage, +1 point of damage per level, upon any creature that touches it. Creatures within 1" of the area take the same damage. These targets are allowed a save for half damage. The storm is 1" to 2" in height.
Reversed[]
The reverse smothers normal fire in double the area. It also has a 5% chance per level of the caster to extinguish magical fire within the normal area.
DM's Advice: A flametongue sword can be extinguished with the reverse form unless it makes a saving throw vs. crushing blow. The weapon becomes non-magical if extinguished.
