- "To my mind, the fire hellion perfectly illustrates the difference between natural fire and the corrupt flames of the Nine Hells."
- — Bigby[1]
Fire hellions are former fire giants whose fascination with war led them to strike infernal deals with powerful devils, eventually corrupting them into fiends themselves.[1]
Description[]
Appearance[]
Fire hellions resemble fire giants with fiendish features, including horns, cloven hooves and a forked tail.[1]
Personality[]
Fire hellions are more charismatic and intelligent than their common kin, with a particularly deep knowledge of the arcane.[1]
Abilities[]
Fire hellions possess the same capabilities of regular fire giants, as well as resistance to magic, an inability to be frightened or bewitched, the ability to see in darkness, and the power to hurl deathly, magical fireballs.[1]
Combat[]
Through infernal tutelage and resources, hellions learn to craft special supernatural weapons. Those struck by such implements are left briefly unable to recover, while those slain have their souls funneled to Avernus.[1]
Society[]
Fire giants are sometimes inspired to enter deals with devils by their study of war, having seen the endless Blood War between the devils and demons and come to covet the former's long-honed tactics and magical gifts so they might rise in the Ordning. Devils teach these fiends-in-the-making how to forge with infernal iron and hellfire, standing to gain the souls of all they slay and the service of a new smith once the hellion themselves is deceased.[1]
In addition to the Giant language, fire hellions speak Common and Infernal.[1]
