The spell appears in The Strategic Review 1-4, as part of the Illusionist class. A fear effect can also be generated from a Wand of Fear, a magic item contained in Monsters & Treasure. Dragon Magazine #12 preserved this spell on the Illusionist list.

Creates a cone-shaped area, 6" outwards, to a base 3" wide. It will affect 4d10 1st-level types, 3d10 2nd-level types, 2d10 3rd-level types, 1d10 4th level types, 1d6 5th level types, or 1d4 6th level types. Those who fail their saves become panicked and flee.
