This list of templates lists templates you can and should use when editing the site.

In-line templates

These are used in text, usually to create links or formatting.

Formatting

  • {{item}}: Link to a magic item. Alias: {{i}}
  • {{spell}}: Link to a spell. Alias: {{s}}
  • {{spoiler}}: Notice that spoilers follow. Usually used in adventure module pages.
  • {{citation needed}}: Citation needed. Use when a piece of text requires a cited source to verify.
  • {{clear}}: For clearing floats.
  • {{main}}: A section header for a section which has its own article.
  • {{topquote}}: An illustrated quote at the top of an article. Abbreviated {{Q}}. Use quotes either from D&D sourcebooks or the works which inspired D&D.
  • {{Faerun}}: Just the text "Faerûn". Use as {{subst:Faerun}}.

Book titles

These are for linking to books or magazines, optionally with a page number or range (and for magazines, an issue number and article name).

Interwiki links

  • {{ds}}: Dark Sun Wiki at Fandom.
  • {{eb}}: Eberron Wiki at Fandom.
  • {{fr}}: Forgotten Realms Wiki at Fandom.
  • {{gh}}: Great Library of Greyhawk, the World of Greyhawk wiki at Greyhawk Online.

Citation templates

These are used in citing references. It's very important to cite sources when adding information to the wiki.

New article templates

Template pages for creating entirely new articles. Read the template page for instructions on how they're used.

Infoboxes

Boxes to appear on articles at the top-right of a page.

Article type

  • {{Infobox wiki}}: Follows the main infobox. For links to other wikis, including Wikipedia and other D&D wikis, particularly setting-specific.

Navboxes

Boxes usually placed at the bottom of an article.

Sourcebooks by edition

Page notices

These are usually placed at the top of the page to signify something important.

  • {{Delete}}: Mark a page as a candidate for deletion.
  • {{Disambig}}: Mark a page as a disambiguation page, e.g. Player's Handbook.
  • {{Stub}}: Mark an article as a stub, i.e. an article which is not complete.
  • {{Secstub}}: Stub marker but for a section rather than the entire article.
  • {{Otherwiki}}: Notice that only a short article appears, as the topic is better covered by a setting-specific wiki.
  • {{Requested article}}: Used to request that another wiki editor create this article.
  • {{Frcleanup}}: Use on a page imported from the Forgotten Realms Wiki which requires editing to fit this wiki's standards.

Other

  • {{Imagecredit}}: For crediting an artist on an image file page.
  • {{Ref}}: Inserts a ==References== and <references /> section. Should always be written as {{subst:ref}}.
  • {{Pubhist}}: Inserts a Publication History section.
