Dungeon Survival Guide is a sourcebook for released in October 2007. It was released during a transitionary period between D&D 3.5 and D&D 4th edition, and contains no rules content.

Official synopsis[]

This lavishly illustrated guide explores the fantastic dungeons of the fictional D&D world, from the perilous Tomb of Horrors to the Sunless Citadel and the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth. Aimed at the novice dungeoneer, this book provides tips and tricks for surviving deadly dungeons of all sorts, enticing would-be dungeon explorers with stories of fabulous treasures guarded by fierce monsters and terrible traps!

Dungeon Survival Guide describes various features of dungeons as they appear in D&D, as well as various famous adventure modules from throughout D&D's history. Mentioned dungons include Catle Greyhawk, Castle Ravenloft, the Caves of Chaos, the Demonweb Pits, the Dungeon of the Slave Lords, Firestorm Peak, The Forge of Fury, the Ghost Tower of Inverness, the Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl, the Hall of the Fire King, the Hidden Shrine of Tamoacha, the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, the Pyramid of Amun-Re, Slaughtergarde, the Sunless Citadel, the Temple of Elemental Evil, the Tomb of Horrors, Undermountain, and White Plume Mountain.

Dungeon Survival Guide is nominally a D&D 3.5 book, making references to details which are specific to that edition. For example, it states that one platinum piece is equal to ten gold pieces, which is true in third edition but not 4th edition. However, it contains no rules content specific to either edition.

Release[]

Dungeon Survival Guide was released by Wizards of the Coast in October 2007 for $19.95 US, or $24.95 Canadian.[1]

On May 21, 2013, it was re-released in digital format. It is currently available on DriveThruRPG and Dungeon Masters Guild for $4.99.
