Determines if the words spoken are truthful or not.

AD&D[]

Detect Lie[]

Debuted in the Player's Handbook as a cleric spell.

Level: 4 School: Divination
Components: V, S, M (gold dust | brass dust)
Range: 3" Casting Time: 7 segments
Duration: 1 round/level Saving Throw: None
Target: One creature

The target is able to discern whether or not spoken words are the truth for the duration.

DM's Advice: The spell doesn't reveal omissions or evasions, and it doesn't show what the truth actually is -- it merely detects outright faleshoods.

Reversed[]

Makes even bald-faced lies seem plausible, or simply makes lies undetectable with magic.
