Cures any form of disease, including diseases brought upon by curses.

Original D&D[]

Cure Disease[]

Debuted in Men & Magic, for the cleric. Anti-clerics use reverse form of the spell. Supplement 3: Eldtritch Wizardry allows druids to use the spell as well.

Reversed Form[]

The effect of this is not described, but, presumably, it causes a disease.

AD&D[]

Cure Disease[]

Debuted in the Player's Handbook as a spell for clerics and druids.

Cleric[]

Level: 3 School: Abjuration
Components: V, S
Range: Touch Casting Time: 1 turn
Duration: Permanent Saving Throw: None
Target: Creature touched

Removes disease from the target. The healing process is gradual, taking from 1 turn to 1 week depending on the kind of disease and the state of advancement.

Reversed[]

The reversed version of the spell requires the caster to make an attack to touch the target, and the target gets a saving throw. The disease begins to affect the target in 1d6 turns. The disease causes the creature to lose 1 hit point per turn, and 1 point of strength per hour, until both are at 10% of their original.

Druid[]

Target: Creature touched

By placing their hand on the target, the caster removes diseases from them. The creature is instantly cured, though recovery may take from one turn to 10 days, depending on the severity of the illness and its progression when removed (the DM determines this). Parasitic monsters, such as rot grubs and green slime, are also removed with this spell. When used by a priest of at least 12th level, the spell also cures lycanthropy, if cast within 3 days of infection.

The reverse of this spell is cause disease.
