Seeks advice from a higher plane of knowledge
Original D&D[]
Debuted in Men & Magic, for the magic-user. Dragon Magazine #12 put this spell on the Illusionist list as well.
- Spell Level 5
The caster can choose a plane of levels 3-12. They get to ask the number of yes/no questions indicated, and the plane has the indicated chance of knowing the response, as well as the indicated chance of giving a true response. The spell is taxing, and the caster has the indicated chance to go insane as they reach higher planes. For each level above 11th, the magic-user reduces the chance of insanity by 5%. Insanity totally incapacitates the caster for a number of weeks equal to the number of the plane he was attempted to contact. This spell may only be cast once every game week at the referee's option.
