Buri is the ancestor of the Norse god Odin and his lesser-known brothers Vili and Ve.
Appearance and personality[]
Little is recorded about Buri, except that they are strong and handsome.[1]
History[]
Buri was uncovered from the primordial ice by the great cow Audhumla as she licked the salty rime for sustenance. Thereafter, he fathered children with giants, and of his line came three brothers: Odin, Vili and Ve. The brothers murdered the most ancient giant Ymir, and so massive was Ymir that his spilled blood drowned almost all of the giants.
Thereafter, the descendants of Buri created the Earth from Ymir's body. The stories of Midgard do not record what happened to Buri after this.[1]
