An abomination is a category of monsters in Dungeons & Dragons.
Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition[]
Abominations were first introduced in Epic Level Handbook (2002), where they represented rejected, unwanted beings spawned by the gods, literally or spiritually. These included the anaxim, atropal, chichimec, dream larva, hecatoncheires, infernal, phaethon, phane, and xixecal.
Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition[]
In the Monster Manual (4e) (2008), abominations were reimagined as living weapons used in the Dawn War between gods and primordials. In addition to the atropal and phane, the tarrasque was counted among their number, as well as new entities such as the astral stalker and blood fiend.
